*** PRESS RELEASE ***

NO TO MUNI SERVICE CUTS!

What:
United Press Conference
Who:   Coalition for Transit Justice
            Muni Fare Strike
            Social Strike

When:   Thursday, September 22 at Noon
Where:  Mission and 16th Streets

The Coalition for Transit Justice, Muni Fare Strike and Social Strike have united to expose and oppose Muni's service cuts. Over thirty lines are set to begin running on reduced schedules, starting Saturday.

Muni's service cuts are an attack on the livelihood of the many working class people, people of color, students, seniors and the disabled who need dependable and affordable public transportation.

Muni riders have already been battered by Muni's recent 20% to 40% increase in fares. Now they want us to pay more for less.

The latest news from Muni is that they plan to spend $11 million to create a high-technology information system that will tell us how late the bus is going to be. Yet they claim they can't find the money to keep all the buses running.

Basta!
